Sneak peek at ‘Dollhouse’ season two
Posted by Lisa • On May 12, 2009 • No Comments

Even though the final decision on the fate of Dollhouse won’t be announced until May 19th, there is already some talk about what’s in store for season two.

While the future of Dollhouse is still uncertain, co-executive producers Liz Craft and Sarah Fain tell TVBarn.com that they have pretty good plans for the show’s sophomore season, including another villain in addition to Alpha (Alan Tudyk).

“Alpha will be out there, but we’ll have someone else in Season 2, I’m sure. We always wanted him to get away,” says Craft.

‘Epitaph One’ to debut at Comic-Con
Posted by Lisa • On May 12, 2009 • No Comments

While it’s almost certain that FOX will not be airing the final episode of Dollhouse, those of you lucky enough to be going to Comic-Con may get the chance to see it before the DVD release on July 28th.

The ghosts of Dollhouse past are out to play.

A brand new episode of Dollhouse, set in the future, will be on the Dollhouse DVD in North America exclusively. We understand plans are afoot to screen it for the first time at Comic-Con in San Diego, which runs in July.

The episode is focused around Felicia Day, and features four other new characters. Additionally — despite what has been previously reported elsewhere – it does include the regular Dollhouse cast.

New still for ‘Epitaph One’
Posted by Lisa • On May 12, 2009 • No Comments

Another new promotional still from episode1.13 of Dollhouse has been found.  It is highly doubtful that FOX will be airing this episode so we’ll just have to wait until July when the DVDs are released.

Random finale thoughts

Here are some snippets from all over the web about Amy and her performance in the Dollhouse season finale.  Yes, there will be spoilers.

2. Eliza Dushku’s lack of acting/believability
I wish I could see some range in her acting. Dushku does okay in short spurts but doesn’t really embody anyone. Speaking of range… I love Amy Acker!

And here’s where I take a moment to thank Joss Whedon for giving us Amy Acker in stripper clothes. She’s so much more beautiful and has so much more range than Eliza Dushku that I’d rather watch a spin-off prequel about her character. I mean, really, Dushku has basically only been Faith for most of this series, whereas Acker has been someone completely different than Fred. And we already know she’s a great actress. Let’s all take a moment to shudder in remembrance of the Ilyria arc on Angel.

Finale review
Posted by Lisa • On May 11, 2009 • No Comments

Just came across an excellent review of Dollhouse by Time.  They say a lot that I agree with about how the show was handled and its potential.  If you haven’t seen the final episode, I suggest not reading any further.  The heavy spoiler content is after the cut.

And also so we can see more of the supporting actors who have really become the reason to watch, especially Amy Acker, who showed impressive range in the last couple episodes…

If Dollhouse does not return for a second season—and I’m hoping, but let’s be realistic—what lessons can we take from it? Maybe that what makes a successful TV show is a mystery anyway, so you might as well go for it and make the best show you can creatively, rather than pre-emptively compromise it.

Dollhouse spent its first several episodes delivering what looked like a TV executive’s idea of what a broadcast audience could reasonably deal with in a sci-fi show: a procedural action drama about a good-looking woman kicking ass and rocking hot outfits. When it eventually became what it wanted to be—an ensemble story about the moral danger of trying to separate the mind from the body—it was engrossing and had a reason for being. Would the ratings have been any better if it committed to this from the get-go? Who knows, but in retrospect it probably wouldn’t have hurt.

‘Dollhouse’ finale screencaptures
Posted by Lisa • On May 09, 2009 • No Comments

Last night was the airing of the final episode of season one.  Let’s hope that it wasn’t the final episode of the series.  The show started out really slow but things have picked up – especially the last few episodes.  Amy was featured quite a lot last night (how awesome was she?!) and I’ve added over 300 high definition screencaptures to the gallery.  As with last week, take caution in viewing this batch as some key plot points are given away.
