‘Dollhouse’ premiere date
Posted by Lisa • On June 15, 2009 • No Comments

FOX has announced the premiere dates for the Fall line-up.  Unless things change, we can expect to see the first episode of season two on September 18th.  September seems so far away.  At least the R1 DVDs are coming pretty soon – can’t wait to see the unaired pilot and unaired episode!  I will of course get screencaptures up ASAP.

‘Dollhouse’ season two teasers
Posted by Lisa • On June 12, 2009 • No Comments

The folks over at PopWatch had a short talk with Joss about what the future holds for season two of Dollhouse.  Not much was said that we don’t already know as Joss was being his usual no spoiler self.  I am posting a short blurb after the cut and you can view the entire article here if you want to read more.

‘Dollhouse’ R2 DVD release date announced
Posted by Lisa • On May 28, 2009 • No Comments

I’ve just received an email from Amazon UK letting me know that the R2 DVD for Dollhouse is now available for preorder and will be released on September 14, 2009.  There are no details in the email or on the site about the special features but I imagine they will be similar, if not the same, as the R1 release.  I will of course update you all if I learn anything more.

Joss’ thoughts on Amy remaining on ‘Dollhouse’
Posted by Lisa • On May 20, 2009 • No Comments

More good news on the Dollhouse front!  It’s really beginning to look like Amy will be able to be a part of both shows as long as schedules allow.

Since Amy Acker’s show Happy Town has been picked up, what does that mean for Dr. Saunders on Dollhouse? Is she headed for the attic? –Mike W.
Ausiello:
Not if puppetmaster Joss Whedon has anything to say about it. He tells me he’ll be “sending [Happy producers] chocolate and flowers,” he laughs. “We’re desperate to have her.” As such, he is disinclined to put another doctor in the d’house. Only if “we find out that we’re not going to use her for the bulk of the season” would he do that, he says. “[But] everyone is not going to be in every episode, so it’s perfectly possible that there will just be stories that don’t involve Dr. Saunders.”

Amy’s future on ‘Dollhouse’
Posted by Lisa • On May 20, 2009 • No Comments

Nothing has been made official but this quote from Eliza Dushku does give us hope about the continuation of Amy’s character on Dollhouse:

Now that Amy Acker’s Happy Town pilot has been picked up by ABC, what does that mean for Dollhouse’s Dr. Saunders? — Lynn
MATT: I ran your question by Eliza Dushku when I chatted her up at Fox’s upfront party, and while the Dollhouse lead/producer is unsure just yet Acker’s Happy news will impact Dr. Saunders’/Whiskey’s presence in Season 2, she said that at the very least, “I hope Amy will pop in and grace us now and then.” Beyond that situation, sources assure me that snipped Season 2 budget or not, the Dollhouse staff will suffer no casualties.

Definitely official: ‘Dollhouse’ renewed
Posted by Lisa • On May 18, 2009 • No Comments

The FOX upfronts were held today and as announced earlier in the weekend, Dollhouse has been granted a second season.  While I was hoping that they would pair it with Fringe, both shows seem to be remaining in their current time slots. The ABC upfronts are tomorrow and I will update you as I hear news about Happy Town.

“First, it’s a bet on creatively, and that’s something that has never changed,” Reilly said. “And I’m happy to say we’re doing that. You know how inspired Joss Whedon is. It’s a bet on Joss. The DVR numbers are a marker for us, so it is a factor, and we did see an uptick in the ratings from a 1.5 to a 2. That was a pattern for us that we liked, betting on Joss, and I think you’re going to see it grow next season.”

But is it the factor of “the devil you know,” as opposed to the bringing in a new unproven series? “Absolutely,” Reilly added. “In fact, I venture to say that if we had put new shows on Friday night, in particular there’d probably be a lot of cynicism about ‘Well, wait, … you’re creating an entire new night of television?’ Not to mention if we’d canceled Joss’ show I’d probably have 110 million e-mails this morning from the fans,” he said with a laugh. “So that’s exactly right. Bet on something that has a core that you believe can work.”
